Special Events 2012

December Evangelism-December has become a great month for sharing the gospel at Blythewood Baptist! We have ordered 3000 Christmas tracts and have matching tootsie rolls! We will be joining these two soon and will be seeking opportunities to spread the sweet message of a Saviour Born!! The Blythewood Christmas Parade is December the 9th and most of our tracts will be given out here. The evening of the 9th we will put together Christmas packages for around 300 prisoners at Columbia Care Prison Hospital, and that Friday, December 14th, we will get to Christmas carol to these same prisoners during the Rock of Ages Christmas Revival. We'll share the tracts as we shop and wherever we go. One year we gave them out as we sang Christmas carols with a one of our own ringing the bell in front of a mall. Christmas is a time to share the Good News!!

Discipleship on Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm. Everyone needs to be discipled!! Bro. Jerry Boney is teaching through the Rooted in Christ foundational discipleship course. Please feel free to join in and grow in the Lord with us!!

Ladies Meetings, usually the third Thursday night of the month at 7:00 pm at the church.We have been skyping in our missionary wives, having a different country emphasis each month. We have spoken with Holly Wheeler in Mexico, Natasha Tolson in China, Heather Trojahn in Ireland, and last month Rebecca Shumaker in Burkina Faso. This month we are doing Egypt, and we will be speaking with Beth Gates. We have snacks based on the country's cuisine, and decorate according to the country's culture. It is a serious blessing to spend time learning and praying and really getting to know more about our missionaries, their daily lives, and the people they love. Join us, ladies!! KIDZ 4 CHRIST is our Bible Club that meets at 7:00 pm each Wednesday.We have Bible teaching, scripture memory, sing wonderful songs, learn a little Spanish, do crafts and have a lot of fun!! Ages 3-12.

Past Special Events

Our Revival in August 20-22, with Pastor Barry Rackley of Rogersville Baptist Temple in Rogersville, TN. was a tremendous blessing!! God spoke to our hearts and helped many make decisions to walk closer to God. We have been praying and are expecting God to do great and marvelous things through us and our church.

Old Fashion Revival with Byron Foxx Sunday thru Wednesday, July 8-11. We had a blessed time of encouragement and challenge as we heard Bro. Byron Foxx, the Founder of Bible Truth Music and the message God gave him for us. Praise the Lord that one young man gave his heart to the Lord! and many of us were moved to give our hearts and lives more fully to Jesus! The choir music was fantastic! Truly we are blessed!!

July 4th BBQ & Burger Fellowship- Wednesday, July 4th from 5-8 pm at the church. Food, games & fun!! We had a great time in the Lord!

"I Love My Church" BBQ Banquet-What a fantastic evening!! 57 folk came for some delicious Wehlage smoked BBQ, a wonderful challenge by Bro. Tony Howeth, and some super sweet fellowship!!

Music and Testimony Night- January 29th at 6:00 pm. Many folk came out for a wonderful evening of song and testimony. Every 5th Sunday we set aside a time to jointly praise the Lord in song and in reflecting on the goodness of God in our lives!

Our Generation Summit-Thursday-Saturday, December 29-3. We had 20 folk travel up to Pigeon Forge for a life changing mission conference. This is always a wonderful way to start the New Year, meditating on and being challenged with God's own heart, reaching the World for Christ. For more information, click here.

Christmas Evangelism Efforts-Our church gave out over 4500 tracts between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Lord has helped us make December a wonderful time to share the Good News. Special Thanksgiving and Christmas tracts ordered by Bro. Bob were handed out with a smile and a "Merry Christmas!", most having a little tootsie roll attached. Many helped with stapling the tracts and preparing them for distribution. We handed them out at the Blythewood Christmas Parade, and we also sang and distributed tracts at Just Care, the local prison hospital. Before our Annual Christmas Party we stuffed goody bags for the patient/prisoners at Just Care. It was a joyous time of serving the Christ of Christmas!.

"The Lamb of Bethlehem"- December 11th. This year the Lord blessed our choir with an amazing opportunity to do Bro. Byron Foxx's cantata for our church. With Bro. Bill Wehlage narrating, the choir sang to the glory of God and many were blessed...including those in the choir!! Thank you to Bro. Aaron for his hard work and leadership in this wonderful service opportunity!! God is good!!

Special Thanksgiving Presentation-Sunday, November 20th. Praise the Lord for the the opportunity to share the history of this wonderful American Holiday, a day dedicated to thanking our almighty sovereign Lord who makes history into "His Story"! The Hand of God was undeniably responsible for the rise of our American nation, beautifully seen in the telling of the story behind that first Thanksgiving.

Missions Conference-November 11-13. Lacy & Holly Wheeler working in Mexico, Chris & Andria Gardner in Peru, and Jacob Elzey, a missionary in training, were with us in a challenging mission conference. What a blessing to hear how God is working in hearts all over the world!

Harvest Fellowship-Saturday, November 5th from 4-8 pm at the church. Perfect weather made for a beautiful day of volleyball, good food, water balloons, laughter, gorgeous campfire, marshmallows, smiling faces, & the sweetest fellowship this side of heaven!! Around 70 folk showed up for a wonderful time!! Praise the Lord for the blessing of brothers and sisters in Christ!!

Regional Choir Conference with Byron Foxx in Rock Hill, SC October 14-15- We had 12 choir members attend this wonderful meeting! a large showing from a non-hosting church! We had a great time learning 6 songs in less than 24 hours and sharing them at a service Saturday evening!

Baptismal Services- Praise the Lord!! We baptised 5 folk on September 11th!

Rock of Ages Juvenile Detention VBS- August 2-5. Needed contributions to help pay for the missionaries lunches and volunteers to help with anything they need help with. Also needed: Lots of folks to pray for these young people, that many would receive Christ and would live for Him!!

Patriotic Sunday- July 3rd Wonderful service thanking God for our country!

Ladies Meeting- Special Tea Party! On the 23rd of June the ladies met and had a wonderful tea party with beautiful china tea cups, fancy edibles, a variety of specialty teas, cream & sugar and lots of straightened pinkies!! Before our tea party, Joy shared her 'Tea Pot' message and the Lord met with us in a special way!!

Father's Day- June 19th. Bro. Richard Rawls was with us to celebrate Father's Day sharing with us his heart about husbands loving their wives. The dads got special gifts, and a challenge to be all that God calls them to be!

Memorial Day Service- Sunday morning, May 29th. What a great service! Little Zachary Wise recited the entire Gettysburg Address and Bro. Bill shared about a soldier he knew personally that sacrificed his life for those in his unit. We appreciate our soldiers, and the men that have sacrificed for our freedom. That evening we had our fifth Sunday Music & Testimony Night! What a sweet, sweet service with so many different contributions, from dulcimers to children's groups to ladies quartets. Many lifted up praises to our great God!

Mother's Day-May 8th. Bro. Bill Wehlage, Bro. Aaron Abreu & Bro. Jerry Boney shared with us from God's Word to make for a very special Mother's Day. The ladies each received a potted flower to take home to replant.

Easter Sunday-Great Sunday celebrating the Lord's resurrection! As aways, we took pictures of our church families, individually and as a whole!! What a great looking group!! God is so good!!

Way of the Master Evangelism Classes-From January 29th through the end of May we met twice a month on Saturday mornings at 9:00 am for a challenging class on how to effectively witness. Bro. Todd Davis taught the classes using materials/video from Way of the Master. Everyone who participated was moved towards a desire to be more bold for the cause of Christ. Since then, many have effectively used this method in Operation Saturation and in daily encounters. We desire that all of us be equipped properly for the work of the ministry here in Blythewood.

Missionary to the Amish- March 6th- Robert McCallum shared with us his burden for these dear folk who are often deceived that salvation is of works. Bro. Robert's presentation opened our eyes to a mission field right here in our own country.

"I Love My Church" BBQ Banquet- We had 70 folk come out for a great time on February 11th. Delicious food, fantastic fellowship, challenging preaching and sweet memories!! Bro. Tony Howeth and his dear family were with us that Friday night thru the following Sunday. We were blessed by the challenge to love one another as Christ loved the church, that we might shine forth to a lost world, showing them we are Christians by our love one for another!!

Past Special Events 2010

Our Generation Summit- December 30th thru January 1st -We took a group of 20 this year to Pigeon Forge, TN, to begin our New Year by being challlenged by missionaries from all over the world! God worked in lives and many have renewed their hearts for missions and for serving the Lord wherever He would have us to serve...all for His Name's sake!!

Christmas Evangelism- We were able to hand out about 6000 tracts this November and December. Bro. Bob ordered Thanksgiving and Christmas tracts. Most of these were stapled with a little piece of candy by many volunteers! We gave tracts out with Sister Candy as she rang the bell with the Salvation Army, at our Blythewood Christmas parade, and to the prisoners at the Columbia Care Prison Hospital when we sang Christmas carols during one night of their Christmas Revival. What a blessing!! Those tracts leftover from these efforts were handed out individually. What a wonderful time to spread the good news! Praise the Lord that Christmas has come to mean the time we all should spread the good tidings of great joy which shall be to all men!!

2010 Missions Conference-November 3rd-7th We were blessed and challenged by missionaries from Burkino Faso, Northern Africa, and Bolivia! We also got to speak to and hear from Missionaries from Mexico, China, Egypt, Morocco via Skype. We believe that Missions is the lifeblood of the church--that is why we are here. It begins at home but goes outward to the uttermost parts of the earth! For more information click here.

Harvest Fellowship- Over 75 folk came out to a sweet time of fellowship and fun on Saturday, October 30th. Fried chicken and all the sides, volleyball, water balloon toss, campfire singing, sweet devotion by Bro. Bill, marshmallows on sticks,and the very best fellowship this side of heaven!!

Music and Testimony Night- October 31st, we celebrated a beautiful evening where the Lord Jesus was glorified through song, testimony and scripture!

Youth Night - On Friday, October 1st, we had an excellent youth night (ages 13-19) with 18 young people show up for volleyball fun, hotdogs, hamburgers, games, sweet fellowship and a challenge around the campfire! Looking forward to another youth activity soon!


On August 22nd and October 3rd, we had two beautiful Baptismal Services. Praise the Lord for those newly saved and making the important decision to follow the Lord in Believer's Baptism. May they now grow in their faith and in the knowledge of their Saviour!

"Rise and Build"- Sunday, September 26th at 6:00 pm. Nehemiah message series with Bro. Bill Wehlage meets usually the last Sunday night of the month.

"Fingerprints of the Creator"-Sunday evening, September 19th at 6 pm, Pastor Patrick Dye, pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church, and Founder of an exciting Creation Science ministry which will debut at this year's SC State Fair. A dozen creation scientists will be on hand at the booth to answer questions and share scientific data that support Biblical Creation. A full sized dinosaur head as well as other interesting visuals will aid this ministry in reaching out to our state with a strong gospel message that the God of the Bible is our creator. Men 4 Christ- Friday, September 17th. Gantt Street Baptist every year hosts this great meeting to encourage men to walk with God and be the leaders God means them to be. A delicious BBQ dinner and great preaching made for a fantastic evening for our men!

Music & Testimony Night- Sunday, August 29th at 6:00 pm. What a sweet time of fellowship, testimony and song! Thank the Lord, too, for Bro. Bill Wehlage as he preached from Chapter 6 of Nehemiah in his "Rise and Build" series. Praise the Lord for the goodness of God!

The Our Generation Leadership Camp (June 14 -18) for high school and college young people is held at Vision Baptist Church in Alpharetta, GA. The cost is $125 which includes food and housing for a week. Missionaries from all over the world will challenge young people to live for Christ, and introduce them to various cultures and people groups who need the gospel.
